Knee problems may be an ACL injury
Most of us have heard of a professional athlete who has torn an ACL, but did you know that this injury is very common among recreational athletes as well? The anterior cruciate ligament (or ACL) is a very important ligament stabilizing the knee, and is prone to injury. Sufferers often complain of their knee “giving out” followed by pain that limits their range of motion. Unfortunately, ACL tears cannot heal themselves and may go undiagnosed for years. This increases the risk of arthritis and other painful conditions due to the instability of the joint. If you think you may have a problem with your ACL, consider making an appointment with Dr. Mata who has completed advanced training to diagnose and correct these types of injuries.
